Robins AFB Relocation Guide, Part 12: Final Questions Before You Move
This post wraps up my Robins AFB Relocation Guide. If you have been following along through the series, you now have a full picture of what it is like to live in Warner Robins and the surrounding Middle Georgia communities. From housing and schools to healthcare, commuting, and lifestyle, this final section brings together the most common questions families ask right before they make the move.
How far is Bonaire or Kathleen from the base?
Bonaire and Kathleen are both located just south of Warner Robins and offer very manageable commutes to Robins AFB. Most drives fall within 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the specific neighborhood and which gate you use. Many families appreciate how easy it is to access the base while living in residential areas nearby.
Where do military families usually live?
Military families live throughout Warner Robins, Bonaire, Kathleen, Centerville, Perry, and a few parts of Macon. There is no single area where everyone lives. Each family chooses based on their own priorities such as commute preferences, housing availability, lifestyle needs, and daily routines.
When I help families who are moving to Warner Robins, we focus on what matters most to them so they can make a confident and informed decision. We have so many wonderful options to choose from!
Is there a lot to do here?
Yes, there is plenty to do in Middle Georgia, and many families are surprised by the variety. Warner Robins and nearby cities offer local events, festivals, parks, recreation programs, shopping, and dining throughout the year.
Between the Museum of Aviation, seasonal festivals in Perry and Macon, community events, and nearby day trips, most families find it easy to stay active and connected once they settle in.
Can I rent before arriving?
Yes, renting before buying is common for families moving to Robins AFB. Renting allows you to get familiar with the area and decide which communities best fit your lifestyle before making a long term commitment.
There are rental options throughout Warner Robins, Bonaire, Kathleen, Centerville, and Perry. Planning ahead and understanding timing can make the process smoother, especially if you are relocating on a tight schedule.
Where can I visit and is it easy to travel from here?
Living near Robins AFB offers convenient access to several popular destinations. Since we are located directly in the middle of the state, we are in relatively close distance to most places in Georgia. Atlanta is about an hour and 45 minutes away and is a frequent choice for concerts, sporting events, shopping, and airport travel. Savannah is roughly two and a half hours away and is popular for coastal getaways and historic charm.
Macon is close enough for regular visits and offers concerts, festivals, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Air travel is accessible through both Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon and Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
